Try Local FIRST with Gresham Ford

If you are stir crazy like the rest of us and looking for a safe way to celebrate the loosening restrictions, this is for you.  Gresham Ford is a proud sponsor of the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce Try Local First Program.

Once a month the Chamber and Gresham Ford partner to highlight a deserving local business.  “Sometimes just spreading the word about the services and products that are offered right here in Gresham is all a business needs.” says Bess Wills, General Manager and Co-Owner of Gresham Ford.  “We have chosen to support this program that encourages Shopping Local because it is so important to the overall health of our community.  When you spend your money locally, those funds are circulated within the Gresham Area between 7 and 14 times.  For example, when you visit Mt Hood Lanes Monday and purchase a drink.  The business owner pays their employees.  Their employees visit Biscuits Cafe for breakfast and tip the waitress.  Then the waitress purchases the next pair of her work pants from Shop Girl Consignment in Downtown Gresham.  All these businesses are paying taxes to the Gresham Area.  Those taxes help increase the support for schools, police and fire.  Shopping local is good for everyone!”.

In fact the Shopping Local cause has been a passion project for Bess and her team.  Almost ten years ago Bess teamed up with Mark Garber, President and Publisher of the Pamplin Media Group.  Together they created a number of Chamber sponsored events that strive to encourage local shopping with Gresham Area residents.  Showing a little love to fellow local businesses is just how Bess rolls.

Love Project

In order to take her love for the entrepreneurial spirit to the next level, Bess has launched the Love Project.  For the month of March, Gresham Ford is accepting coloring submissions from local school children.  Winners will receive locally curated Easter baskets from Bess herself.

Just visit http://bit.ly/EasterEggColoringContest print the Easter Egg and have your little one color their heart out.  Return submissions to the Gresham Ford Sales, Service, Commercial or Quick Lane departments.
