Last spring, Gresham Ford donated a $500.00 gift certificate to the  Gresham United VFW Post 180 for maintenance service for any make or model preformed at the Gresham Quick Lane Service Center.

The Gresham VFW Post held the drawing on Veterans Day, Monday 11 November 2019.

The Grand Prize winner, post member Tom Bennett, donated the gift certificate to the deployed families of the Gresham Army National Guard unit, C Co. 2/162 Infantry.  Bennett, a Navy Veteran, said he could not think of a better use for the prize.

The acting 1SG, Tyler Brown said this donation could not have been more timely, as a struggling family needs repairs on their car.

Donation to Local Veteran Family

Gresham United VFW Post 180 and it’s sponsoring partner, Gresham Ford, are committed to helping veterans and especially the families of the deployed National Guard soldiers.

Post Commander David Lowe gave the gift certificate to the unit on Monday, 18 November. Gresham United Post VFW Post 180 supports the families of deployed soldiers with food boxes, unexpected expenses and repairs during this deployment.

David Lowe, once a member of the Florida Army National Guard knows the difficulties of deployment.   “Having been in both the Guard and Reserves, I understand the difficulties families face on deployment”.  Lowe was deployed to Iraq in 2006-2007.  “A soldier cannot adequately preform their mission if they know there are problems at home.  We, in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, want to take on the burden so the soldier can focus on the mission and return home safely.”  Gresham United VFW Post 180 holds fund raisers throughout the coming year to meet the mission of supporting these families.”
