100 Women Who Care East County

100 Women Who Care East County100+ Women Who Care East County, is the newest chapter of over 550 chapters that exist in Around the World. 100+ Women Who Care East County, is a group of women who are committed to increasing awareness of and raising funds for charitable organizations that serve the needs of our community, and who realize that collectively we have a more powerful impact than we do individually. The group will gather four times annually in February, April, July and October from 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm, with the opportunity to socialize and network before and following the meeting.

At each quarterly meetings, every member will write a check, in an amount of $100 to the local charity that the members vote to support. 100% of the money collected goes directly to the organization selected.

On February 21st, 2019, this group raised $10,500 and the chosen charity was The Boxes of Love Project.  The Boxes of Love Project is a grassroots effort to provide babies and children going into foster care with a large box of new clothing, pajamas, shoes and other comfort items to call their own…A Box of Love.  The project was started by a local pediatric nurse in response to seeing the shocking number of babies and children who enter the foster care system with literally nothing other than the clothes on their backs.  After adopting her own son in May 2014 (after she and her husband fostered him for two years), Lyndsee Wunn knew that she had to do something to change the way that so many children enter the foster care system.

It is the mission of The Boxes of Love Project to let these amazing babies and children know that they are special, that they are valued, that they matter, and most importantly, that they are loved.  The boxes help to provide the children with a small sense of comfort, control, security and happiness during an incredibly scary and tumultuous time in their lives. Please join us in our effort to provide some of the most vulnerable children in our community with a little bit of love, hope and joy!  For more information about this amazing program, please visit http://www.boxesofloveproject.org.
