The availability of rebates is contingent upon program financing at the time of leasing or buying a car. In 2024, the  Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program will be available for a brief period of time due to strong demand and restricted financing. To qualify for a rebate, vehicles must be bought or leased between April 3, 2024, and June 3, 2024. The rebate is not available for any cars bought or leased on or after June 4, 2024, or before April 3, 2024. Refund applications must be submitted within six months of the date of purchase or lease. By filling out the application today, low- and moderate-income households can be prequalified for the $5,000 Charge Ahead rebate.

The Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program: What is it?

Drivers in Oregon who buy or lease zero-emission vehicles are eligible for a rebate under the Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program. It's not a credit for taxes. The Program's goal is to lower vehicle emissions by incentivizing more Oregonians to buy or rent zero-emission cars. The Program provides two ways to get a refund:
• Standard Rebate for buying or leasing a new electric motorcycle with zero emissions or a new battery-electric or plug-in hybrid car.
• Charge-ahead rebate for buying or leasing a new or used plug-in hybrid or battery electric car.

The buyer or lessee must be a low- or moderate-income household or a low-income service provider in order to be eligible for the Charge Ahead Rebate. Depending on the size of the applicant's household, the income criterion can reach 400% of the federal poverty threshold. Please visit the Income Eligibility Calculator website to find out if you satisfy the income requirements for your location.
To carry out the Program on DEQ's behalf, DEQ has a contract with The Center for Sustainable Energy, a third-party administrator.
