This program provides a balance of an Associates of Applied Science degree from Mt. Hood Community College coupled with real world on the job, paid, training with any number of local Ford and Lincoln Dealers, like Gresham Ford.

Automotive service and maintenance is a growing tremendously. The more efficient and technically evolved vehicles become the greater need for professional auto technicians. This need is also being amplified by the regular and increasing retirement of mechanics who have served the auto industry for decades. The Ford ASSET Program spans 22 months and provides an apprenticeship experience in order to prepare individuals to work at a Ford of Lincoln dealership, like the award winning service.

As you train to become a service technician for the existing and future automobiles of Ford Motor Company, students have the option to make money through the Automotive Student Service Educational Training program (ASSET). The ASSET program is a learning experience that combines classroom education with on-the-job training at sponsoring Ford and Lincoln dealerships and MHCC to increase the technical proficiency and professional level of the incoming dealership technician. The curriculum was created by MHCC and Ford Motor Company together, and it results in an Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology from MHCC as well as factory training qualifications given by instructors who have been certified by Ford.

The ASSET program, which is aimed at both men and women who are interested in a future in automotive technology, requires a commitment to work and study for two years, encompassing the fall, winter, spring, and summer terms.

The students enrolled in ASSET programs across the country are viewed as Ford Motor Company's "service technicians of the future". All instructional facilities are outfitted with the most modern and sophisticated professional equipment available, and the best technical schools possible have been chosen as program sites. In addition to the certainty that a significant company is investing in them by choosing them for training, ASSET students also have access to future employment prospects that are assured. Learning from Ford master-certified teachers is a requirement for admission to the Ford ASSET program.

 Scholarship Opportunities  Scholarship Opportunities

To be eligible for this scholarship students must have completed their first semester in their Ford ASSET Program. Scholarship students must maintain full-time status and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and provide a recommendation by the an ASSET instructor. Eligibility is also contingent upon your status as an employable within the United States, maintain apprenticeship with sponsoring dealership, and possess a valid driver’s license. Each Accelerate Scholarship is award for $1,000-$2,000 towards ASSET tution.

Throughout the program, Ford or Lincoln dealerships hire and sponsor ASSET students. After graduation, ASSET students can anticipate continuing to work at their sponsoring dealership. Numerous positions, including Team Leader, Specialist, Shop Foreman, Service Manager, Parts and Service Operations Manager, General Manager, and others, are open inside the dealership. The entire automotive business offers a wide variety of other prospects.
