AARP Smart Driver TEK Workshop

Smart DriverTEK workshop with AARP at Gresham Ford

As we continue our precautions against the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, AARP has made the difficult decision to extend our cancellation of all in-person events and activities until at least March 1, 2021.  This hiatus may extend further if local conditions warrant.  In any event, we will share the resumption of live classes at least 60 days before classes are scheduled to begin.

If you are scheduled for any Smart Driver or Smart DriverTEK classes or workshops after January 1st, 2021, but before March 1st, 2021, please consider this notice that those classes have been canceled in our system, and we will not be accepting reservations for those classes.  We are currently developing protocols to ensure the safety of our volunteers and participants for when classes resume.  We appreciate your continued support and patience during this time.

Smart DriverTEK workshop with AARP at Gresham Ford

Technology is changing the driving experience. The new Smart DriverTEK workshop will keep you in the know about the latest high-tech safety features in your current or future car. From lane departure warnings and smart headlights to blind-spot detection systems and more, the workshop will help you recognize how these technologies might enhance your driving safety and extend your safe driving years.

Cars are becoming more technologically advanced every day and show no sign of slowing down. This means there’s more safety technology in today’s cars than ever before. However, many drivers aren’t familiar with how to use the technology to keep them safe.  That’s why AARP Driver Safety has teamed up with The Hartford to develop Smart DriverTEK, a workshop to provide drivers with the necessary tools to navigate modern vehicle technology, and it’s
now coming to Gresham.  “With the changes in vehicle technology over the last five years, it’s critical for drivers to stay updated and informed,” said Kyle Rakow, vice president and national director of AARP Driver Safety, which offers
the nation’s largest and longest-running driving refresher course. “Many of these technologies have the potential to make driving safer, which is why we are so appreciative of The Hartford’s generous commitment to this new endeavor.”

How to Register for AARP Workshop

The 90-minute workshops, led by a trained AARP volunteer, include an overview of vehicle technology, a step-by-step guide of how these technologies work and how they can benefit drivers, as well as time for people to interact with each other.
Join us at Gresham Ford on the second Tuesday of the month, 10:00 am for the next Smart DriverTEK workshop. Developed jointly by AARP Driver Safety and The Hartford, the 90-minute workshop is open to all drivers and costs just $5, payable to AARP. Space is limited and reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign up today online at www.aarp.org/findaworkshop8 or call 1-877-805-4115.
